  How It Works

1.Do I have to pay to become a member?
Yes. Monthly membership charges are $4.99 charged every month on the anniversary date of when you became a member. This nominal fee helps us keep credit cards verified and pay for some administrative costs.

2.When is my credit card charged?

  • Your credit card will be charged on a monthly basis for the following month’s usage for each product borrowed.
  • If you are borrowing an item, your credit card will be pre-authorized for the amount of the transaction. However, the charges will be applied on the day the product is shipped to you.
  • Recurring monthly rental charges will be applied to your credit card on the same date every month, as the original ship date, plus 10 days to allow you to exchange products. We know this is confusing but it is this way only because we are trying to help you. We don’t want you to be charged for two products in the same month just because you were a little late on returning your product for a new one. So, we give you an additional ten days before we charge your credit card so that you can peacefully return your existing product and borrow a new one.
  • If you purchase a product from the “Garage Sale”, you will be charged just one time equivalent to the purchase amount plus the shipping and handling charges.

3.What are my monthly charges?
Your recurring monthly charges will include the appropriate rental fee plus the insurance fee (if you elected to purchase insurance). The first time charges on any product borrowed will include rental fee, shipping and handling, insurance fee (if applicable), and taxes (if applicable).

4.How often do I get charged?

  • You will be charged on a monthly basis for items borrowed.
  • You will be charged just once if you purchase a product from the “Garage Sale”

5.Do I have to sign a contract when I borrow an item?

  • You do not have to sign a contract that ties you to length of usage of a product. That is the one of our underlying beliefs…why should you have to sign contracts for things that you do not want to change frequently. In other words you can use the product for one month or 10 months…it’s up to YOU!
  • However, you do have to sign a “terms of use” agreement that outlines our policies and terms of usage of our services and products.

6.What is the time limit on how long I can borrow a product?
There is no time limit! You can keep it for one month or one year. As long as your account is in good standing and you are able to make your monthly borrower fee, you can keep using the product.

7.Can I purchase a product I am borrowing?
Yes. At any time while you borrowing a product you may decide to purchase it. If you decide to purchase something you are borrowing, just login to your account, click on the “purchase now” button next to the item you are currently borrowing. This will send us an email with the details of the product. We will analyze the purchase price of the product at the time of the request and send you an email with the purchase amount and a confirmation link. Once you click the confirmation link, we will charge your credit card with the purchase amount and stop any future recurring monthly rental fees for that product.

8.How do I return a product?

  • You can return a product by logging in to your account and clicking on the 'Return' link next to the product you wish to return, in the Currently Borrowing section.
  • On the next page, click on the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the screen to generate a pre-paid shipping label.
  • Please print this label
  • Place the pre-paid shipping label in the label envelope already attached to the outside of the box in which you will return the item (preferably the box in which we originally sent you this item), OR
  • Place the pre-paid shipping label in the extra label envelope supplied by us and attach it to the box in which you will return the item (preferably the box in which we originally sent you this item).
  • Next, just drop it at a FedEx shipping location.
  • Once the return label is scanned by the shipping company, we will stop any future recurring monthly charges.

9.What are my shipping options? How long will it take to receive my product?

  • Your shipping options include various FedEx services like FedEx Ground, FedEx 2-day, and FedEx overnight.
    • In addition to the shipping time, please allow 1 additional business day for us to complete product handling and other administrative tasks.
  • You will be given the option to select a shipping option at the time of checkout. You will also be shown different shipping fees for each option. You will be charged appropriately for the shipping option you selected.
  • Return shipping on any product will be billed to crazytoe.com and will be shipped via FedEx Ground.

10.How do I cancel my membership?

  • Please send us an email at contactus@crazytoe.com indicating that you wish you cancel your membership.
  • We will cancel your membership and stop all (if any) future recurring payments if all products you were borrowing have been returned to us and if there are no outstanding balances on your account.

11.What types of payments do you accept?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and PayPal balances.

12.Am I charged taxes on my order?

  • Taxes will be calculated and shown at the time of checkout.
  • Taxes will be charged at 6% to residents of Florida, in the first payment for every product they borrow.

13.What is the “Garage Sale”?

  • Our “Garage Sale” is our outlet store where you can get GREAT deals for purchase on gently used or never used items from our website.
  • These deals are awesome and marked significantly below retail so definitely check them out.

14.What happens if an item is out of stock or wait-listed?

  • If an item is out of stock, we will generally list how soon it will be available on the product description page. You may not borrow an out-of-stock product.
  • An item is wait-listed if it is currently en-route from our supplier or from another customer, to us. If you want to borrow a product that is wait-listed, please go ahead and click the "Borrow it" button. This will ensure that you get this product as soon as it arrives.

15.Who pays for shipping?

  • Our customers pay for shipping.
  • There is a one time round-trip charge when you borrow a product. You do not have to pay again when you return a product.
  • We could just twist the truth and say that we have “free shipping” and charge you more to rent the item (thereby hiding the shipping charges in the monthly rental fee). At the end of the day you would pay for “shipping”.

16.What does the insurance on the product cover?

The insurance covers any wear and tear and problems that occur from regular use. Lost items are not covered. It does not cover damage from accident, use of after-market products/add-ons that do not meet the product specification, fire, water damage, lightning, or other acts of nature, unauthorized product modification, removal, installation and set-up service charges by any third party excluding the manufacturer, and failure to follow instructions supplied with the product by the manufacturer.

17.How are refunds handled?

  • We do not provide any refunds on any product purchased through our Garage Sale.
  • We do not provide any refunds on monthly recurring charges. All monthly rental charges are made for the entire following month of use.

18.How many items can I borrow at a time?

  • For the first three months, you will be restricted to borrow only two items.
  • Once you have been a member for three months and your account is in good standing, you will be able to borrow as many items as you like. You will just be charged for each item.

19.How does the crazytoe recycling program work?

  • Ship us your cell phone.
  • Go to "contact us" on crazytoe.com and send us an email informing us of your shipment. Please include your name and your crazytoe.com user id.
  • We will apply a $9.99 credit to your crazytoe.com account for recycling with us. You can use this discount next time you borrow from us.
  • At this time we accept only cell phones. If you send us any other product, we will not be able to apply the discount and will not be
responsible for shipping it back to you. We apologize for any inconvenience.

20.Where are the product manuals? Why are the product manuals not sent with the product?

  Product/Technology

1.What does GSM mean?

  • Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) is an international standard for cellular network. GSM is the only cellular service available in Europe and many other parts of the world. So, if you travel you are much better off with a GSM phone. GSM phones store information on a SIM card that can be switched between phones. This means that if you have a PDA for work but a sleek and slim “evening” phone, you can just take the SIM card out of the PDA and put it into the other phone. This way you keep the same number between the phones and all your data gets transferred with the SIM.
  • In the USA, currently, AT&T/Cingular and T-MOBILE work on the GSM network.

2.What is an unlocked phone?

Some cell phones are designed to use a Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card, or microchip that stores subscriber data. The SIM card is issued by a carrier (like AT&T and T-MOBILE) and provides cellular service by activating a phone into which it is inserted. A locked phone will only recognize a SIM card from a particular carrier. But an unlocked cell phone will recognize a SIM card from any carrier. Therefore by using unlocked cell phones, you can switch between carriers like AT&T and T-MOBILE and use the cell phone in other parts of the world where the GSM network is used.

3.Which cell phone providers do unlocked phones work with?
Unlocked cell phones work with any service provider that uses SIM cards. In the USA, this includes (but are not limited to) AT&T and T-MOBILE. Unlocked, GSM based cell phones do not work on VERIZON and SPRINT/NEXTEL.

4.How do I switch my “SIM” card?

  • The SIM card in a phone is generally located behind the battery. On your existing phone, you may have to pop out the battery cover, remove the battery, and pull out the thin SIM card. Now take your borrowed phone, pop out the battery cover, remove the battery, and insert the SIM card in the given slot. Be very careful when pulling out your SIM as you can damage the SIM card. This procedure does not work with all phones, which is why you should read the next step.
  • The safest way to change your SIM card is to take your existing phone and the phone that you have borrowed from crazytoe.com to a local authorized dealer of your cellular service provider company. Ask one of the sales rep to transfer the SIM card from one phone to another.

5.

How to do I transfer my data from my old phone to the new phone?

If you want to transfer your data (like your contacts, address book, etc) from phone to phone using your SIM card then you will have to store that data on your SIM card.
When you create a new contact just save it to “SIM” instead of saving it to phone. You can also go back to existing contacts and re-save them to the SIM card.
Your cell phone number and account information automatically gets transferred with the SIM card.

6.What if I use Verizon or Sprint-Nextel?

  • Well, remember that Verizon and/or Spring/Nextel currently DO NOT use GSM technology which means that they don’t work with SIM cards. Sorry, but currently we do not carry phones that work with these carriers. That may change soon, so please keep checking!

7.Will you ensure that any/all my information is removed before the phone is borrowed by another person?

8.What is the difference between Quad-band and Tri-band phones?

  General

1.Are the products that I borrow new?

  • All products you borrow are either new or have been gently used. We evaluate every phone, when it is returned to us, to determine if it is in a condition to be borrowed again.
  • We obviously don’t want others to think that you are using a “used” phone so we are careful when we list a used phone for you to borrow. This is also the reason why we are very stringent in our policies when it comes to the condition in which a phone is returned to us by a customer. If a phone is returned with more wear and tear than normal (as determined by us) for the period of time it was borrowed, the customer is charged additional fees as the phone cannot be listed again.

2.Why should I borrow instead of buying? What are the advantages?
 The advantages are many:
  • You can choose from a comprehensive list of latest, ultra cool, fashionable, and hard to find cell phones and other products for a low monthly price.
  • You can carry the same cell phones featured in the latest gadget/gear/electronics magazines.
  • You can carry the same cell phones that your favorite celebrity is carrying.
  • You can get phones, accessories, and other hard to find electronics from around the world without purchasing them from a non-trusted international vendor.
  • You can save tons of money by not paying a fortune for these items that are quickly outdated anyway.
  • Any financial guru will tell you that you should NOT buy or invest your money in a depreciating asset; especially a depreciating asset that you won’t even want in 6 months to a year.
  • There is so much innovation in the world when it comes to personal handheld electronics that you should not have to be stuck with an item for years just because you paid too much…while you doodle over the next best thing.
  • So, STOP buying and START borrowing…from US!

3.How does the wish list work?

  • If you see an item on our website that you like, just add it to your wish list and it will remain in your personal account where you will be able to see/review it whenever you login.
  • This saves you the hassle of trying to remember the items you like on our website and should help you checkout faster the next time you want to exchange a product.
  • You can remove an item from your wish list any time you want.
  •
4.How do I switch my “SIM” card?

    • The safest way to change your SIM card is to take your existing phone and the phone that you have borrowed from crazytoe.com to a local authorized dealer of your cellular service provider company. Ask one of the sales rep to transfer the SIM card from one phone to another.
    • Your SIM card is usually a little thin white chip located in the back of your phone, next to or behind the battery. Be very careful when pulling out your SIM as you can damage the SIM card.

5.How do I suggest a product that I like to be added to the website?

    • We are dedicated to improving your experience on crazytoe.com. We don’t want to just list the items that we think are cool. You are the one borrowing and so you should be able to tell us what you want to borrow.
    • If you would like to have us look at a product that we don’t already list, please go to the “Recommend a Product” section of crazytoe.com and send us an email with the details of the product. Please remember to fill out as much information as you can. Thank you!
    • We will review your request, determine if the product suggested by you fits our business model, and if we think that the product will be a good addition to our website. If we decide to add it we will send you an email to let you know that it has been added. Obviously, there is no obligation on your part to borrow a product just because you recommended it.

6.Are the Garage Sale items new?
The Garage Sale has both brand new items and gently used items. New and used items are searchable on the Garage Sale page.
Products that are New are prefixed with the phrase 'Brand New' on this page.

    7.What is a 'premium member'?
A premium member is a member who has borrowed a product from us for at least 90 consecutive days.

    8. What is a 'special order' product?

    • Products marked 'special order' can only be ordered by our premium members.
    • Premium members are members who have been borrowing for at least 90 days.
    • 'Special order' products take 2-3 weeks to reach the customer, as they are specially ordered.
    • A minimum 10 month borrowing term is required of any customer borrowing this product. If a 'special order' item is returned prior to the 10 month borrowing anniversary, you will be charged an 'early return' fee equal to one month's borrowing charges.
    • These are high-end, hand selected, exclusive products that are one of a kind. If you are looking for the best of both the technology and fashion worlds, this is the product for you.
